Final Portrait
Over the past couple of weeks i have been working on completing my final self portrait. During this time i discovered that it is not easy to paint with water colours and i had a number of issues such as:
- Pencil lines showing through
- It was difficult to get the shading and shadows correct
- It is almost impossible to cover up mistakes

Starting my painting
In todays lesson we started to transfer our sketches on to a canvas. Once I had done that I began to practice with the paints. We were using acrylic paints and I thought that the colours were too bright for my portrait. I have decided to do my portrait in water colour because it is more familiar and I have all of the equipment that I need at home. It will be easier to get the correct colours that I need for my portrait. The colours I will use for the picture will symbolize my personality (pastel colours). The colours will be pastel versions of the colours Andy Warhol would have used for his portraits.

My sketch
In todays art lesson I completed the sketch of myself for my portrait. What I have to do now is come up with some symbols that reflect my personality or things that I like. Then I have to incorporate the symbols in to my self portrait. For next weeks lesson I have set myself a small homework task of coming up with a colour scheme for my portrait. I think that I will use pastel colours because my sketch is quite soft. Colours like pale yellow, pink, blue and lilac will create a good colour scheme as well as reflect some of my personality. I'm going to practice making some of these colours at home with water colours then re-create them in class next week when we will be starting the final portrait.
